Green Bay, Wisconsin

Green Bay would be the last round for 07/08.  We had just returned home from South Louisiana and regrouped for the trip to Almost Canada.  From the Gulf to Canada in three easy days.  Heck, we were ready for it to be over.  Brock and Corey stayed with us and worked and raced the qualifier at Gravity Alley.  Max rolled in from Texas and we headed East to Memphis to pick up Chris.  We stopped in North Little Rock at the VA hospital for me to get a VA inspection.  Then we checked out a tool store and picked up a few items.  It was around 6pm when we met up with Chris and his dad in West Memphis.  Then it was North on I-55, headed for the cold country.  Our trailer looked like it was sagging and after inspection, we found that the hitch was really bent down.  After spending so many miles on the beautiful highways of America, it had taken a beating.

The weather predictions for Wisconsin were cold, cold and more cold.  We were ready.  It was another all night drive.  I drove until around 1am and Corey took over.  He held the wheel until 8am or so and I took it back.  Brock, Chris and Pam zeed out.  The roads up North take a beating from the weather changes and so did our trailer hitch.  Another inspection showed it was getting worse.  We made it to the hotel without incident, but it would have to be fixed before we headed home.  The snow was piled up four feet high in all of the parking lots.  The hotel was a Radisson with the Oneida Indian Casino in the complex.  Pam liked that idea and her winning streak began.  She did VERY well.  I sucked.

After camping in the parking lot of the hotel the first night, we moved the boys and the motorhome over to the arena on Friday morning.  It was the Resch Arena and right next door the the famed Lambeau Field where the Packers play.  Davey and his mechanic Chester rolled in from New York.  We feared that the dirt would be really soft since there was so much snow in Green Bay.  It turned out to be really good.  Chris still neede 12 points and Davey was almost there in the Lites class.  The rider turnout was light.  Partly because it was the last round, partly because the Minneapolis Supercross was going on this weekend too.  I had nothing to do with that.  All the boys made it to the night show.  I worked on the blog for Live Nation.  On Friday night, Davey made it into the AX Main and finished 15th.  In the Lites Main, Davey was 8th and Chris 11th.  The other guys had their problems, but they still had another night to go.  After the races, Pam cleaned up again at the casino.

Saturday afternoon was the last track party of the year.  A buffalo wings eating contest broke out at one of the tables with the Hooters girls.  Corey bought a Cheesehead and wore it during the party.  The team rode well in the qualifiers, but they just couldn't make it happen on the last night of the season.  None of them made the AX Main.  In the Lites, Chris was 10th and Davey was 11th.  We headed for the casino.  Pam was still playing with their money.  We had fun but no big jackpots.  On Sunday, Chris and Davey elected to ride the Open Expert class.  Chris took the win and Davey was third.  In addition to the Expert purse, they both scored some Kawasaki bucks.

After the races on Sunday, it was get ready for the party.  We all got dressed up and headed for the banquet.  I was awarded the Unsung Hero award last year and was asked to present that award for 2008.  This year it was Robbie Reynard.  I was happy to present that award to Robbie.  He didn't have a great year, but he kept charging until the last flag, notching a second on Friday and a fifth on Saturday.  There were other awards passed out and Pam did her thing with the top 10 presentation.  We ate, danced and partied the night away.  Another Arenacross season came to an end.

On Monday, we had to get the trailer hitch fixed before we could leave.  We found a trailer/welding shop, spent a couple of hours and $400 and we were headed South.  Brock stayed in Wisconsin to go skiing with his family.  Our trip home included a stop in St. Louis on Tuesday where Pam got a "no smoking" treatment.  We hope it works.  We dropped Chris off in West Memphis and we got home early Wednesday morning.  Corey headed home to Missouri and Max headed back to Texas.  It was a long season and we were finally home.  We'll see you next year.  Thanks for hanging out with us.
