Dallas, Texas

After getting home from Kansas City at 7am on Monday, we all took a much needed rest. Around noon we finally got up and had lunch.  Then we headed down to the track to get it prepped for Tuesday. The next morning we were ready to ride. The Live Nation track crew boys came down after Kansas City to hang out and ride some before Dallas. Mike G, Roach, and Waldele all ready to go, so that made seven of us riding. The arenacross track turned out to be in good shape, although we rebuilt the whoops twice throughout the day. Waldele had some mechanical problems with his bike, but it turned out to just be a broken wire. Mike G also had a little bit trouble with his bike and had to rob parts from 3 bikes to keep his bike running for the day. After a solid day of riding we got everything cleaned up and ready to leave that night for Dallas. After the 4 hour drive to Dallas, we were starving and hit Pancho's famous mexican buffet. After we all pigged out, we had a nice conversation with our waiter Ashley. Chris was quite confused with the ethnicity of Ashley and asked him very politely, "What kind of Indian are you?". Ashley was clearly an Indian, but not American Indian. Ashley was a good sport about the whole deal and the dinner was quite nice. Afterwards, we headed to hotel. All of the riders headed to the hot tub for a little R&R. We used Mike and Pam's hotel room for a changing room and that would bite us in the rear the next day. Very early the next morning we got an early wakeup call from Pam about our wet short we left all over the room and using all of their towels. It was quite the wakeup call.  We had to get up anyway to work with the track crew. We put in a full day of hanging plastic, banners and hauling tuf blocks. Chris became the "Rockstar" of the day.  He got interviewed by a local TV station which boosted his confidence nicely. Dallas was a one day event, so nothing really happened until Saturday morning.  We all passed the sound test easily. Practice was good for the team and Brock got the double/triple through the rhythm down in the first practice. Max thought the whoops were great, Corey got the massive 60ft catapult down nicely and Chris was dialed in too. In the Arenacross class heat, Brock failed to make the cut by 1 spot. Corey couldn't seem to stay off the ground. Chris was leading the Lites LCQ with half a lap to go and his hand came off the bar in the whoops. That didn't end well for him. Max made the Lites main out of his heat but missed out in the Arenacross LCQ with a 2nd as they only took the winner. Max rode a smart race in the Lites main and finished 11th. Brock and Chris both took part in the autograph line after the races where over.  Sunday morning came way too early for Team DBM and Brock and Corey skipped practice. The heats were quite uneventful, but the Expert main was a different story. Max got a nice holeshot with Chris, Brock, and Corey right behind him. On the second lap Chris took Max out in the corner before the finish. Corey hit a kicker in the rhythm section and endoed hard on the fourth lap. Corey got hit by Brock while he was flying through the air. Chris ran away clean with the win, Corey was third, followed by Max in fifth and Brock limped home in 7th.

Monday morning we headed to Walnut Creek MX in Springtown, Texas. Walnut Creek is Michael Thacker's private practice facility.  He has a nice outdoor track and an arenacross track.  Pam put us on notice that it was time for some RV cleanup.  The next morning, we watered the track and did some rework so we could ride in primo condition. The track looked great after we worked it but that didn't last long due to the sandy conditions. Chris didn't practice due because his shoulder was still tender from his big crash, but Max, Corey, and Brock got in a lot of practice on the whoops. We took the next day to prep our bikes catch up on laundry. Wednesday night we left for Albuquerque and drove to Amarillo and spent the night. The next morning we stopped at the historic Cadillac Ranch just west of Amarillo on I-40. We goofed around, shot a few pictures and headed West for New Mexico.
