Corinth, Mississippi

it would be a few weeks before the next AMA Arenacross, so we headed for Corinth, Mississippi for a Cycle City Promotions AX.  we've known the promoter, Tod Hammock since we lived in Oklahoma in the mid 80s.  he was the Kawasaki rep back then.  Brock got in some good riding and our friend Cory Smith from Missouri came down to train and race in Mississippi with us.  since it was only five hours over to Corinth, we took the DBM boxtruck.  it was an easy drive and we got there about 3pm.  the Pros didn't practice until 5pm. Chris was there with his dad and his girlfriend and her parents.  we hooked up with Tod and checked out the track.  then the boys went out for practice.  they all looked good on this track and there was some pretty good competition.  Chad Ward from Alabama won both Pro mains.  Chris took third in the Lites class and showed good speed and aggressiveness.  Brock couldn't get a start, but he was aggressive and rode really well.  Cory got in front of Brock during one race and looked great.  there was some bar banging during a couple of races and some of the locals took offense.  nothing other than good arenacross racing.  once again, we got some good seat time.  we're looking forward to New York.  we loaded up and hit the road back to Arkansas.  I drove to West Memphis and we hit a truck stop for a late night snack, then Cory took the wheel.  we got home around 6am and hit the sack.  both Cory and Brock headed home for some R&R.
